Future models - Polestar - 4 - SUVPolestar 4 SUV timing locked inSUV shaped Polestar 4 joins coupe line-up from September, in Australian by year’s end8 Jul 2026 By MATT BROGAN POLESTAR will expand its best-selling model line-up from September with the addition of a more practical Polestar 4 SUV variant, giving the Chinese-Swedish electric performance brand a broader play in the premium electric SUV segment.
Confirmed in Gothenburg this week, the Polestar 4 SUV will go on sale in most Polestar markets from 2 September, joining the existing Polestar 4 coupe and bringing what the company describes as “an added layer of flexibility and practicality” to the range.
The new variant forms part of Polestar’s largest model offensive to date, which includes the Polestar 5 grand tourer, next-generation Polestar 2, and future Polestar 7 compact SUV.
Polestar has previously said the new 4 variant will combine “the space of an estate” with “the versatility of an SUV”.
The Polestar 4 SUV shares its core 400-volt electric architecture with the coupe, offering up to 630km of WLTP driving range in Rear motor guise and up to 544km in Dual motor form.
Polestar says both the SUV and latest 4 coupe also benefit from retuned chassis components aimed at improving ride comfort and dynamic response.
In Australia, the updated Polestar 4 coupe recently arrived with revised suspension, steering and equipment packaging, with pricing from $78,500 plus on-road costs for the Rear motor and $86,350 + ORC for the Dual motor.
“Polestar 4 has quickly established itself as a favourite among our customers, and we’ve seen strong demand from drivers who want distinctive design and performance combined with great practicality,” said Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller.
“With Polestar 4 SUV, we’re building on that success by offering even more versatility, while staying true to the Polestar 4 character.
“Wrapped in a stunning design, this is a car I’ve been looking forward to sharing with the world.”
The new SUV will be manufactured in Busan, South Korea, a move that also broadens Polestar’s production footprint outside China.
Polestar has not yet confirmed Australian timing or pricing for the ‘4’ SUV, though the model’s September sales start suggests further market-specific details are likely to follow in coming months.
The Polestar 4 is already the brand’s strongest performer locally and globally, with Australian sales up 33.4 per cent year-to-date to the end of June. The EVC says 906 examples of the Polestar 4 coupe have been sold YTD, including 201 in the month of June alone.
That figure represents 75.0 per cent of all Polestar models sold in Australia across 2026.
The broader model push comes as Polestar seeks higher volumes and stronger retail reach, with the company targeting low double-digit global volume growth in 2026 and a 30 per cent expansion of its retail network.
