Future models - PolestarFour new Polestars coming in next three yearsSecond-gen Polestar 2, wagon-bodied Polestar 4 among BEV brand’s product push19 Feb 2026 POLESTAR will launch four new vehicles globally within the next three years, including a second-generation Polestar 2 and what seems to be a wagon-bodied version of the Polestar 4.
The Polestar 5 performance sedan – unveiled in September last year – will be the first to arrive, commencing deliveries in the middle of this year, and compete against the likes of the Porsche Taycan, its Audi E-Tron GT sibling, and the Lotus Emeya.
Two variants of the Polestar 5 are confirmed for Australian shores, each sourcing electricity from a 112kWh nickel manganese cobalt battery: the 550kW/812Nm Dual Motor variant (priced from $171,100 before on-road costs) and the range-topping 650kW/1015Nm Performance variant (priced at $193,100 + ORC).
Next, a new variant of the Polestar 4 mid-sized SUV – which is currently the brand’s best-selling model in Australia – will follow in the fourth quarter of this year, poised to introduce a new wagon-like body style.
An image released by the brand teases a rear window, a characteristic absent from the current Polestar 4 coupe-SUV range.
“Sweden is famous for its estate cars, and its SUVs are world-class,” said Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller.
“We are combining the space of an estate and the versatility of an SUV with the dynamic performance that is Polestar.”
Full details on the new variant, including pricing, specifications and where it will sit relative to the existing Polestar 4 line-up are yet to be officially confirmed.
Currently, two variants of the Polestar 4 coupe are offered in Australia, consisting of the 200kW/343Nm Long Range Single Motor model (priced from $78,500 before on-road costs) and the 400kW/686Nm Long Range Dual Motor variant ($88,350 + ORC).
Next to be introduced will be a “completely new successor” to the Polestar 2 medium sedan, slated for launch in 2027.
The current-generation Polestar 2 – introduced as the brand’s debut model in the Australian market in 2021 – is currently offered in four trim levels, with prices ranging from $62,400 before on-road costs for the entry-level Standard Range Single Motor variant to $85,080 + ORC for the top-spec Long Range Dual Motor Performance model.
Completing the line-up expansion, the yet-to-be-unveiled Polestar 7 compact SUV will be launched in 2028.
Full details on the new model are yet to be officially announced by Polestar, but the compact SUV is being jointly developed with Volvo and will be manufactured at the latter’s Košice plant in Slovakia.
Targeting Europe’s lucrative electric compact SUV segment, the Polestar 7 will most likely compete against similar-sized electric SUVs such as the Skoda Elroq and BMW iX1, as well as its corporate cousin, the Volvo EX30.
“With Polestar 7 we are entering the largest EV segment in Europe, the compact SUV segment, which accounts for approximately one-third of total BEV volumes in 2025,” added Mr Lohscheller.
“We are convinced that we can offer customers a progressive performance-driven car for a very attractive price point, built in Europe.”
While Polestar has provided a rough timeline for each of the new model’s global debut and the Polestar 5 is expected on local shores in mid-2026, official Australian arrival dates for the Polestar 4, 2, and 7 are yet to be officially confirmed. ![]() Read more30th of January 2026 ![]() 2026 Polestar 2 ReviewJoyful dynamics, stunning looks, and ever so slightly better than before, the Polestar 2 remains a firm GoAuto favourite9th of October 2025 ![]() Unchanged pricing on MY26 Polestar 4Polestar holds strong on Australian pricing for updated ‘4’ coupe-SUV line-upAll future modelsMotor industry news |
