Alfa Romeo revises its flagship 166, giving it some extra features1 Jun 2001 By JUSTIN LACY ALFA Romeo has released a mildly upgraded version of its top-of-the-range luxury 166 model. One of the first 2002 model year cars to hit our shores, the 166 is now fitted with a GSM mobile phone as part of Alfa's Integrated Control System (ICS), which governs the operation of the trip computer and audio, ventilation and satellite navigation systems via an LCD screen mounted in the dashboard. Priced at $79,900, the 166 also picks up a three-position memory function for the electric driver's seat. The previously optional 17-inch, five-slot alloy wheels are now standard, replacing the 16-inch, eight-slot wheels on last year's model, while revised suspension settings are claimed to provide a smoother and more comfortable ride. The only options now available on the 166 are metallic paint and an electric sunroof.
