Cadillac’s Optiq mid-size luxury SUV arrives with 224kW/480Nm of output courtesy of a dual-motor driveline and 75kWh lithium-ion battery. Range is quoted at up to 425km, while equipment includes Brembo brakes, coil-over front suspension, and a multilink rear-end.

Volkswagen’s more NVES friendly large Tayron eHybrid SUV is scheduled for a Q2 arrival positioned above its petrol-powered equivalents and priced accordingly. It offers a choice of two 1.5-litre turbo-petrol electrified drivetrains for efficiency gains and 110km all-electric range.

Tesla is reintroducing a three-row SUV in a single-variant called the Model Y L with a longer wheelbase than the familiar five-seat Model Y, but bespoke and taller bodywork that hides not just a simple stretch but in fact a surprisingly differentiated vehicle beneath.

Model: Trailseeker
Scheduled for Q2 launch, this is the second BEV in Subaru’s local range. It runs a dual-motor, AWD system producing 280kW enabling a claimed 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds making it the fastest-accelerating Subaru production car ever built… all with 211mm of ground clearance!

Model: Outlander - Plug-in hybrid
The updated and localised Outlander PHEV brings a more refined powertrain with an increased all-electric driving range (up 2km to 86km), updated 22.7kWh lithium-ion battery pack, and a reduced combined cycle fuel consumption figure, down 0.3 litres to 1.2L/100km.

Model: MG4 - Urban
MG’s most affordable BEV is this new 110kW or 118kW/250Nm front-wheel drive model that sits beneath existing MG 4 variants. The Urban has lower capacity LFP battery choices (43kWh and 54kWh) with a 323km range for the former and 415km for the latter.

Model: BT-50 - Thunder 4x4
Mazda has brought back its hard-core BT-50 Thunder range-topper for 2026 alongside a tradie-oriented Boss model based on the XT, the former adding off-road appeal to the updated line-up. Thunder takes GT trim adding an array of visual and practical upgrades for greater appeal.

The revised Honda CR-V medium SUV line-up for 2026 includes four e:HEV hybrids, including two AWD variants for the first time. Beyond powertrain and variant changes, the CR-V has received a mild visual makeover, with the flagship e:HEV RS AWD the biggest beneficiary.

Model: EX5
The updated 2026 Geely EX5 mid-size electric SUV has a larger 68.4kWh battery extending range to as much as 475km. While it offers slower acceleration and poorer energy consumption, the inclusion of V2L and V2V capability, and 160kW/320Nm output is welcomed.
Model: Vistiq
Cadillac’s range-topping Vistiq seven-seat SUV offers dual-motor drive and 459kW/880Nm of output for a claimed 0-100km/h time of 4.2 seconds. Range is listed at up to 461km from a 91kWh lithium-ion battery, while equipment includes Brembo brakes and air suspension.

Also due sometime from April is VW’s midsize Tiguan eHybrid SUV in two versions. Volkswagen says the Tiguan continues as its core five-seat offering, with a 490-litre boot capacity and a more compact footprint suited to urban environments.
