In what essentially amounts to a plate clearance, customers can take advantage of discounts of more than $8000 on the sticker price of the ID.Buzz, which is usually priced from $87,990 plus on-road costs.
Now available from $79,990 driveaway in five-seat format and $84,990 with seven seats, discounting of the the ID.Buzz does not extend to the all-wheel drive GTX flagship and does not include two-tone paintwork, a sizeable $4090 option.
Riding on Volkswagen Group’s MEB dedicated electric platform, the ID.Buzz arrives with a 210kW/560Nm electric motor driving the rear wheels. It offers standard equipment that includes 19-inch alloy wheels, Matrix LED headlighting, adaptive high beam and adaptive cruise control, powered sliding doors, 360-degree camera technology, a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless phone charging, and more.
Option highlights include 21-inch alloy wheels (+$1900), harman/kardon premium sound and head-up display (+$2200), a panoramic sunroof (+$3290), and Interior Style package (+$6840).
Competing against the likes of the Mercedes-Benz EQV and Zeekr 009, the Volkswagen ID.Buzz is one of the more popular electric powered people movers in the over $70K segment.
Year-to-date sales total 323 units, against just 35 for the Mercedes-Benz EQV and 97 for the Zeekr 009.
Other category entrants include the LDV Mifa 9 (with just three units sold YTD), the pricey Lexus LM (201 units), Mercedes-Benz V-Class (194 units), Mercedes-Benz Vito and eVito (112 units), now-defunct Toyota Granvia (33 units), and both of Volkswagen’s own California and Multivan (with 17 and 221 units respectively).
