New models - Volvo - EX90Volvo prices ES90 for AustraliaUnique in segment Volvo ES90 electric crossover priced from $88,880 + ORC29 Aug 2025 By MATT BROGAN VOLVO has priced its segment-stretching ES90 for the local market, the all-electric crossover now available to order from $88,880 plus on-road costs.
Combining what Volvo says is the elegance of a sedan, the adaptability of a fastback, and the spacious interior and higher ground clearance of an SUV, the ES90 offers a level of versatility that’s unique in the segment.
The Swedish manufacturer claims the ES90 is designed to evolve over time, with computing power that represents an eightfold improvement over the previous generation.
The model utilises 800-volt electrical architecture that is said to offer longer driving range and faster charging than any electric Volvo before and is the fourth all-electric model to join the local product line-up, alongside the EX30, EX40, and EX90.
Built on Volvo’s SPA2 platform, like the EX90, the ES90 features over-the-air software updates to keep the model up to date and offers a driving range of up to 554km (WLTP), 350kW DC fast charging, and an ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.25Cd.
Cargo space is listed at 424 litres with the rear seats in place and 733 litres all told. Additionally, a ‘frunk’ offers 22 litres of storage space under the bonnet.
Inside the cabin, the ES90 combines Scandinavian styling with a panoramic roof, quad-zone climate control, available 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins premium audio, Volvo’s new-generation infotainment system with Google built-in, 9.0-inch digital instrument screen, head-up display, a 14.5-inch infotainment array, and 360-degree camera technology.
Volvo continues to offer a high level of standard safety technologies combining a strong safety cage, state-of-the-art restraint systems, and optimised deformation zones with an raft of active safety systems powered by “an advanced array of sensors” including one lidar, five radars, seven cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors.
While power and torque figures are yet to be provided, Volvo says it will offer two single motor variants locally, from $88,880 and $107,990 plus on-road costs.
“The Volvo ES90 combines our most advanced technologies with Scandinavian design and superior comfort, creating a true premium Volvo car designed to elevate your quality of life,” said Volvo Car Australia managing director Stephen Connor.
“It joins the EX90 SUV as one of our flagship models and cements our position as an industry leader in software-defined cars that harness the power of core computing.”
